The Tarbuton offers a rich set of programs for children and adults taught primarily in Hebrew by Israeli professionals and infused with Israeli culture.

The curriculum covers Hebrew language and strengthens knowledge of the State of Israel teaching history, geography, and Jewish holidays.  Children of San Diego Israelis and non-Israelis alike learn the Hebrew language in conjunction with Israeli customs providing rich cultural experiences and a stronger connection to Israel. 

The Ivrit b’Ivrit Hebrew language program emphasizes conversational skills but also offers reading and writing classes.  Additional extra curricular programs conducted in Hebrew through the Tarbuton give students a place to use their language skills.  
 

Programs are available for children ages 3-18.  Classes take place for school age children after Public School/Day Schools let out.  Programs in the mornings are available for adults.  Vacations and holidays correspond to the Jewish calendar and to the Public School/Day School calendar. 

The Tarbuton provides its programs through Beth El in La Jolla and Temple Solel in Cardiff/N. County with a 3rd location in Carmel Valley. 

The Tarbuton was created to establish a place where Hebrew language can be taught and Jewish tradition maintained in an Israeli atmosphere.  The program development is managed by Jennie Starr with additional parent involvement.

We welcome contributions to help subsidize the programs for tuition, and a scholarship program.  All contributions are recognized for tax purposes.

מרכז לתרבות ישראלית

התרבותון, מרכז לתרבות ישראלית מציע חוגי העשרה לילדים ולמבוגרים בעיברית על ידי מדריכים ישראלים במיטב התרבות הישראלית.

החומר כולל העשרת השפה והעשרת הידע על ההיסטוריה של מדינת ישראל, גיאוגרפיה וחגים יהודיים.  ישראלים וילידי ארצות הברית ילמדו את השפה העיברית ומנהגים ישראלית על מנת להקנות קשר חזק יותר למדינת ישראל.

 
התוכנית 'עיברית בעיברית' שמה דגש על מיומנות בתקשורת בעיברית ותוכניות נוספות המועברות בעיברית מאפשרות שימוש בכישורים אלו.

התוכניות מתקיימות לילדים בגילאים 3-18. השיעורים מועברים בשעות אחר הצהריים לאחר שעות הלימודים.  החופשים מותאמים לחגים היהודיים ולחופשות בתי הספר העירוניים.

 פיתוח התוכנית מנוהלת על ידי ג'ני סטר בעזרת הורים מהקהילה.
